ABOUT COFFEE-HUT
Coffee-Hut Records was conceptualized back in 2003 by Jeff and Kat of Iron Oxide as a web record label and distro which would mainly re-release obscure '80's punk, post-punk and garage albums from the Northeast Ohio area, predominantly Kent and Cleveland. Jeff has a card catalog full of tapes of great yet forgotten music that should not just be left to rot away -- or at least allowed to rot away on CD-R.
Since Jeff and Kat are also active in Cleveland's rustcore/noise/no-wave/experimental scene, adding some of their current projects to the Coffee-Hut Records catalog was a blindingly obvious idea. It wasn't long before they decided to distribute CD-R's for some of their underrated and obscure compatriots, either. It might seem odd to release and distribute both post-punk from 20 years ago and paint-blistering noise by 20 year olds, but we hope you'll find a distro that doesn't just sell releases by a roster of interchangable punk bands a little refreshing.
We run this thing out of our love of music, and with hopes that interesting people in strange places will discover things they like, and maybe even share things they like with us. With our prices and habit of giving away piles of stuff for free, we obviously don't make a lot of cash, but the little we do goes back into the pockets of the musicians. We reinvest the profit from selling our own albums into putting out more stuff.
We will sell or trade with other distros, and distro stuff for other bands, but generally only if it's stuff we like, and you have no preconceptions about getting rich or famous from being on a CD-R record label with word-of-mouth promotion. If you want to be treated like an friend instead of a rock star commodity, not get ripped off, and have a few cool people hear your stuff who wouldn't otherwise, this is the label for you. Assholes and inveterate self-promoters need not apply.

Transcript of Arthur Sullivan's message to Edison upon introduction to the phonograph:
" . . . For myself, I can only say that I am astonished and somewhat terrified at the results of this evening's experiment -- astonished at the wonderful power you have developed, and terrified at the thought that so much hideous and bad music may be put on record forever. But all the same, I think it is the most wonderful thing that I have ever experienced, and I congratulate you with all my heart on this wonderful discovery."
